The opportunity 

If you are a senior ICU trainee and keen to gain experience at or already working at Critical Care Consultant level then you don't want to miss this 12 month role in a great organisation where every day is exciting. With flexible start date and the potential to stay on in a permanent role you will ideally have sat and passed Australasian fellowship exams in Intensive Care Medicine. International applicants who have trained in an equivalent training program and hold previous paediatric experience will also be considered.

You will work on the Specialist roster (under supervision for Fellow / Transition Year applicants) and have responsibility for some quality improvement initiatives. Admission numbers are around 1400 per year to the Complex (ICU/HDU) with 85% of these as acute admissions. With a supra-regional spinal injury service, care for severe burns, and approx 150 paediatric admissions each year the team are also heavily involved in paediatric resuscitation in the ED, this group offer non-clinical time, mentoring and support to help you develop portfolio interests and skills that will benefit your future career development.

Essential criteria

An ideal candidate would have prior experience at Intensive Care Registrar level; hold current NZ work rights and registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
