The opportunity

This practice is not for profit community-owned Hospital and Health Care Facility. It is the GP practice that the group purchased thirteen years ago and moved into the hospital building.  The GP practice is integrated into the Hospital building to access their staff and facilities. They have four GPs and four nurses working each day, one being a phone/triage nurse. They also have three Nurse Practitioner job-sharing two positions. They have three receptionists each day and a Practice Manager.

They have 5,523 enrolled patients, 50% male, 50% female. 32% of our patients are under 25 years old, 18% are over 65. 79% are New Zealand European, 13 % Maori/Pacifica and 8% Asian.

Seeking another perm GP who will join the team. Applicant should have at least three years of experience as a GP – As the GP practice is owned by a hospital, they would prefer a GP with Emergency experience who could provide cover in their Emergency Department if required (not essential but would be preferred). Supervision will be provided if needed.

The location

Gore is a town of approximately 10,000 people that services a wide rural community of over 25,000. Gore has a strong community spirit with top-class sporting and recreational facilities. It is a family-friendly town with four primary schools and two excellent secondary schools.   Gore is within close proximity to Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown with great fishing and parks.  Gore’s weather is mild, warm in the summer and cooler in the winter. Housing is very affordable with modern homes available for rentals.  

Essential Criteria

An ideal candidate would hold current NZ work rights AND registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
