You will be working as a locum Medical Principal House Officer and assist the Director, Staff Specialists and Senior Medical Staff in ensuring the General Medicine services provided by the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner given available resources.
You will be working in this 70-bed hospital, which offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services. There is a 29-bed mixed General Surgical and Medical Ward and a four bed High Dependency Unit where patients may be held pending retrieval, or for close observation not possible on the wards. Additional beds are available for paediatrics. The hospital has a busy surgical outpatient clinic reviewing a wide variety of surgical conditions.
Gladstone is a stunning location which is just a stones' throw from the Southern Great Barrier Reef. Nestled between several islands including Heron Island, Lady Musgrave Island and Wilson Island; there are numerous local activities available including fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. There's also an abundance of wildlife in its three national parks; with secret beaches, sand dunes and estuaries offering a safe haven for many of Australia's native flora and fauna.
To be successful in applying for this role, you must have MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Ideally you will also have current AHPRA registration and a minimum of two years practice within the Australian healthcare system. Due to travel restrictions, only local QLD-based locums will be considered.
