This is a well-equipped, purpose built practice facility. Adjacent to the Queenstown Hospital and aged care facility, this is a three Doctor practice with support from a full-time CDM trained Registered Nurse, administration staff and a number of visiting Allied Health professionals and ancillary services.
Working alongside a highly experienced rural generalists, you will also have an opportunity to supplement your income through providing on-call services to the hospital on a one in four day roster.
Queenstown is the largest town and primary hub for the greater West Coast region. It has a strong colonial heritage, with a number of historic art deco buildings lining its broad streets. Queenstown offers a range of activities and attractions such as the West Coast Wilderness Railway, a tourism rail venture that has seen the original mining purposed Abt railway track to Strahan restored, along with the original steam-powered locomotives that plied the route over a century ago.
The town plays host to the Unconformity Festival, a fast-growing contemporary arts festival which explores the rich and fascinating history of the region. Queenstown is also the gateway to the great South-West wilderness area, which incorporates some of Tasmania’s most popular bushwalks.
You will need to be a Vocationally Registered General Practitioner (FRACGP or FACRRM) with prior experience in a rural setting. It is essential that you can help with the VMO roster at the local hospital, so recent ED experience along with a current emergency medication certificate is also required. Applications from GPs who are willing and able to help supervise / mentor junior Doctors are particularly welcomed.
This is a permanent / long-term opportunity (a fixed term 12 month minimum contract may be considered).
