- Dream New Zealand location
- Varied workload
- Join a team of enthusiastic rural generalists
Looking for a Rural Medicine Specialist to join a team of 9 SMO Rural Generalists & a Rural Hospital Medicine Registrar. Working in ED and on the ward, as well as working on your own with on-call back up.
The varied workload comes from having to deal with high levels of trauma, general medicine, paediatrics, and palliative care. You will also be expected to provide emergency back-up for a birthing unit and the Mental Health team – as well as staffing fracture clinics. Expect up to 400 ED presentations per month with up to 50 transfers to secondary or tertiary hospitals. The hospital serves a local population of 23,000 people with 1 million tourists per year.
Situated in a large town, known for its enthusiastic adventurists – including jet boating, skiing, and its wineries. This is a very vibrant location with a fantastic atmosphere which makes it one of the most popular tourist spots in the country.
To apply for this role you must be a Fellow of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine (FDRHMNZ), or close to completing this qualification. Ideally, you will also hold a postgraduate qualification in Point of Care Ultrasound.
Take the plunge and have a great work-life balance with the home.
