The Opportunity

8 day locum available 22 to 29 Sept 2024.

As the sole Doctor in the town you will be providing 24/7 on call cover for emergencies and should have prior experience in a similar rural setting. There is excellent support available from Bourke and after hours the amazing nursing team cover all Cat 3-5 presentations so that you are only called out when really needed. This rural facility has 3 ED & 8 acute beds, as well as small 12 bed residential aged care and renal dialysis ward. Monday to Friday you will predominately be located in the General Practice after a short check-in on the ED and ward rounds.

 

The Location

Nestled on the banks of the Barwon-Darling river, Brewarrina is an ideal locum location for avid anglers, renowned for both ancient and modern fishing. Home to the heritage listed Aboriginal Fish Traps, estimated to be over 40,000 yrs old and classed as one of the oldest man-made structures on the planet. There are plenty of water activities like canoeing and boating that are also frequently enjoyed by both locals and visitors. Perhaps you might want to read up on the towns history in the cultural museum and get some fresh air out on the local heritage trails.

 

Essential Criteria

You must be a vocationally registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM) with recent rural emergency experience and a current ALS2 (or equivalent) certificate.
