To be considered eligible for this role, you must be a vocationally registered GP with ALS2 or equivalent emergency certification.
The Joyce Palmer Health Service is a 15-bed primary-level acute facility located on the Aboriginal community of Palm Island.
The facility is named after Joyce Palmer, a well-known Palm Island health worker. Joyce Palmer provided care to the people of Palm Island for more than 40 years until her retirement in 1984.
Joyce Palmer Health Service has doctors who work full time and are on call for emergencies after hours.
The hospital cares for all non-critically ill patients, including antenates, neonates, children, adults and aged care. Critical patients are stabilised and transferred to Townsville University Hospital by Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) with a retrieval team.

Palm Island, also known as Great Palm Island, or by the Aboriginal name Bwgcolman, is the largest of twelve tropical Islands in the Palm Island Group.
