The opportunity
Locum with an organisation making a considerable difference in the lives of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This opportunity will take you to remote communities of Outback Queensland, where you will be working with a multi-disciplinary team providing invaluable primary care. You will be working with another GPs, and supported by Aboriginal Support Workers, registered nurses, and visiting allied health specialists offering a range of services. Aboriginal Medical Service is co located within the hospital. Software used is Communicar.
This locum is an exceptional opportunity providing unique experiences and challenges as well as attractive remuneration. You will be working Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with no on-call or weekend work required. Dates available: 22 Jul - 9 Aug, 12 Aug - 6 Sep, 9 - 27 Sep (2 x GPs), 2 - 20 Dec (2 x GPs).
The location
Situated in the Gulf of Carpentaria and Outback Queensland, this town are known for their historic buildings, many species of wildlife, and well-developed, successful yet isolated Aboriginal communities, offering some relaxation and escape from the fast pace of the city. With Shire and Council permission, there are some excellent swimming areas in the river to enjoy as well as some well-sized barramundi to be caught.
Essential criteria
- FACRRM/FRACGP or VR qualifications and unrestricted AHPRA Registration
- Previous experience working within a remote Indigenous health setting is preferred, as is participation in cultural sensitivity training
- Communicare software experience
- CPR within 12 months or BLS/ALS required
