About the role:

You’ll be supported by a friendly team, including registered nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, and allied health professionals, all focused on community well-being. Clinical support comes from the Aerial Medical Service, offering telephone consultations and medical retrievals, with the Royal Darwin Hospital available for tertiary care.

The health centre operates with a responsive on-call system, where Primary Health Care Nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners are the first responders. The medical officer will only be contacted if necessary or as directed by the Duty RMP on-call. Travel, including flights, accommodation, and a vehicle, will be provided, allowing you to focus on making a meaningful impact in the community while enjoying the unique lifestyle that Wadeye offers.

About the location:

Wadeye is a unique and culturally rich community located about 270 km southwest of Darwin, accessible by a 50-minute flight or a longer drive. It has a population of approximately 2,700, primarily made up of Indigenous people from various clans, which contributes to its diverse cultural tapestry.

Essential criteria:

• FACRRM/FRACGP or VR qualifications and unrestricted AHPRA Registration
• Full working rights in Australia
• Recent experience working in Aboriginal Medical Services
