The Opportunity
SERH ED is a busy but remote hospital. It is 3 hours from Canberra, 6 hours from Sydney and 9 hours from Melbourne. There are no FACEMs to support the ED doctors. Although there is ICU and anaesthetics support available, these doctors may be too busy with in-hospital emergencies or OT to provide rapid support.
We're looking for an experienced Emergency Medicine Registrar to join the locum rosters.
1) Doctors with extensive Australian ED experience (at least 3 years) involving in-charge and supervising roles
2) Doctors with proven airway and paediatric resuscitation experience
3) Doctors with excellent references - not good or fair
4) Doctors able to see at least 10 patients per shift, ideally 20 patients per shift when busy
5) Doctors with experience in remote Australia hospitals

Locum shifts in Bega are a popular choice for Emergency Medicine Doctors - 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. With a range of quality private and public schools in the area, younger generations are also be well looked after, growing up with fantastic friendly country folk, and a huge range of outdoor activities to keep them occupied with no long commutes.
South East Regional Hospital receives rotating Basic Physician Trainees (BPTs) from the Canberra Hospital, rotating general surgical registrars from Sydney and is accredited to receive registrars from RACP, RACS, AOA, RANZCOG, RACGP, ACEM and ACRRM.
Essential Criteria
To be eligible for this for this role, you must have General Registration with AHPRA.
