The Placement

Bourke is one of Australia’s most iconic Outback towns - on the Darling River in far north-western NSW, about 800km from Sydney. It’s where Ochre was founded in 2002, and it holds a special place in our history. Red dust, wide skies, and a community that genuinely relies on its doctors.

Ochre Medical Centre Bourke is a mixed-billing general practice operating Monday to Friday, serving a diverse community including a significant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. The practice is co-located with Bourke Multipurpose Service, which provides emergency department care, acute inpatient beds, residential aged care and a range of community health services. Ochre is contracted by the Western NSW Local Health District to provide locum doctors to the hospital. On-call is shared across the VMO team, with your roster confirmed ahead of your block.

The Essentials

•         Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM

•         Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration

•         Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

•         Current ALS2 (or equivalent)

•         Recent emergency experience within the last 18 months
