At Ochre Medical Centre Brewarrina, you’ll provide essential primary care services to the local community while also supporting Brewarrina Multipurpose Service Hospital. Working alongside experienced nurses and a dedicated practice manager, you’ll enjoy both clinical independence and team collaboration.

Your role spans general practice, emergency care, and inpatient medicine — with lower patient presentations compared to larger sites, ensuring a balanced and sustainable workload.

What’s Included for You

• Full-Time total package valued up to $655,000 per annum
• General Practice Billings: Average around $1,600 per day
• On-Call Payments: $1,200 per day, with 322 days share on-call rostered annually = $386,400 per year
• Moratorium Reduction: MM7 location with RA5 scaling benefit, reducing the moratorium period to five years
• Relocation and Living Support: Includes a car and house valued at approximately $30,000, conveniently located close to the hospital for ease and convenience when on call
• Flexible Roster Options: Permanent role with structured roster choices — either 2 weeks on/2 weeks off or 3 weeks on/1 week off — designed to support a balanced lifestyle while maintaining continuity of care

About the Practice & Hospital

Brewarrina Multipurpose Service (MPS) and Ochre Medical Centre form the heart of local healthcare. The centre provides GP services for the community while ensuring coverage for the hospital’s emergency department and inpatient care. The hospital offers 24-hour emergency care, general medicine, palliative care, residential aged care, renal dialysis, x-ray, and community health programs. Staff enjoy a varied scope of practice, working both independently and collaboratively to support clients with complex health needs.

Clinical & Hospital Scope:

• Medical Centre: Operates Monday to Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm
• Emergency Department: 3 ED beds, CAT 1–5 cases (CAT 1–2 after hours, 6pm–8am)
• Inpatient Care: 8 acute beds, 12 aged care beds, general medicine & palliative care
• Renal Dialysis: 7-chair dialysis unit
• Support: Practice nurse, practice manager, hospital team collaboration

What We’re Looking For

• Vocationally Registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM)
• Recent ED/VMO experience
• Strong interest in Indigenous health and rural medicine
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small, supportive team
• Emergency Skills: Current ALS2 or equivalent, with emergency experience within the last 6 months
