About Boggabri: Your New Home

Boggabri is a charming small town on the Kamilaroi Highway in north-western New South Wales, situated between Gunnedah and Narrabri. With a population of approximately 885 (2021 Census data), its name originates from the Gamilaraay "bagaaybaraay," meaning "having creeks," referencing the Namoi River that flows through the town – popular for fishing!

The town boasts a rich agricultural history and is currently experiencing further expansion due to recently approved coal mine expansions, including a newly approved expansion to the Boggabri Coal Mine. This growth is bringing new developments, including plans lodged for serviced apartments and commercial developments, and community initiatives like the recently adopted Boggabri Open Spaces Master Plan. Works on the Civic Precinct (part of the Master Plan) are scheduled to commence in 2025.

Boggabri offers a relaxed country lifestyle with local amenities including a nine-hole golf course, a Chinese restaurant, 'The Vault' fine dining, a bowling club, RSL Club (offering regular meat raffles, badge draws, and a courtesy bus), and two primary schools (with a nearby high school). The town is known for its strong community spirit and hosts events like the popular Boggabri Drovers Campfire weekend.
