VR GP | Bruny Island, Tasmania | Unique Island Lifestyle & Commuter Flexibility

Ochre Health is a national leader in rural medicine. At our Bruny Island clinic, we provide a highly rewarding, community-focused environment where you are fully supported by an experienced nursing and administrative team. We manage the operational heavy lifting so you can focus entirely on your patients while enjoying a peaceful, structured workday.

The Role:

Looking to practice quality medicine in one of Tasmania’s most unique and breathtaking locations? Ochre Medical Centre Bruny Island is seeking a VR GP for a rare, part-time opportunity that feels like an escape. Leave your car at the Kettering ferry terminal, walk onto the boat, spot dolphins as you cross the channel, and pick up the dedicated Ochre vehicle waiting for you on arrival. It’s the ultimate "destination medicine" experience.

Why Bruny Island? This role is perfectly suited for a GP based in Hobart or its surrounding suburbs who wants to complement their existing weekly schedule with high-impact community medicine:

·      The Ultimate Commute: Trade traffic lights for a scenic, relaxing 20-minute ferry ride across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel.

·      A Vibrant Destination: Spend your lunch breaks or after-hours exploring pristine coastal scenery, world-famous local artisan food producers, and South Bruny National Park.

·      Deep Community Gratitude: Step into a close-knit, highly engaged community that truly values and appreciates their local doctor.

The Perks:

·      Highly Lucrative Earnings: Offered on a competitive percentage of billings with an established, loyal patient base ready to be inherited.

·      Unbeatable Work-Life Balance: A dedicated 2-day weekly schedule (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) with relaxed clinic hours from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

·      Seamless Travel Support: Walk onto the ferry and drive away—a dedicated Ochre vehicle is provided on-site for your island transit.

·      Government Incentives: MMM6 & DPA location—eligible for rural incentives and retention benefits.

Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you must hold Vocational Registration as a General Practitioner in Australia:

·      Fellowship: FRACGP or FACRRM is essential.

·      Registration: Current, unrestricted Specialist Registration with AHPRA.

·      Spirit: A collaborative clinician looking for variety, an intentional pace of medicine, and a desire to make a meaningful community impact twice a week.

This Is Your Sign If you’re ready to trade the city rush for tide schedules and ocean views just two days a week, let’s talk.
