The opportunity

Due to increased patient growth and demand, we have an exciting opportunity for GP to permanently join this friendly, supportive team on a full-time basis working 10 sessions per week. With a team of 10 GP’s and 21,500 patients, no two days are the same, and see a large variety of acute, routine, and proactive health care required for the population.

As a GP in the team, you will be well supported by fellow GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and administrators. The multidisciplinary facility includes Pharmacy, Long Terms Conditions, chronic conditions management, Physiotherapist, Dietitian, Skin Clinic, Hearing, Mental Health, and Gastroenterology.

Practitioners with a special interest are encouraged to apply with this high-performing & innovative collegial group who push the boundaries in general practice by exploring, developing and delivering exceptional primary health care. As a cornerstone accredited teaching practice it would be preferable that applicants hold vocational registration.

The location

Palmerston North is a sophisticated medium-sized NZ city, which is still small enough to be friendly and retain a community feel. The well-regarded university attracts students from all over the country and it’s a great spot for families with good schooling at all levels and affordable housing. The city has a strong arts and culture scene, and great entertainment options for all ages. With plenty of outdoor lifestyle options on the doorstep, you won’t need to go far for adventure, but the city is also placed to easily explore other regions of the North Island including the Wairarapa wine region, the Ruapehu ski fields and much more!

Essential criteria

To apply for this position you must hold or be eligible to obtain current work rights and registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
