The Opportunity
Live, work and play on King Island, TAS – stunning beaches, world-class golf courses and a tight-knit community feel. Ochre Medical Centre King Island has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Generalist GP VMO to practice from our King Island general practice and also participate on the VMO roster at the King Island hospital.
The practice is the only medical centre on King Island and as just over 1400 active patients. Typically the practice supports 2 GP VMO rural generalists. The practice actively participates supporting young Interns and Junior Medical Officers as part of the John Flynn program. The practice is well equipment with all the necessary equipment and accreditations and is located adjacent to the local hospital.
The King Island Hospital provides emergency and acute care, as well as a range of outpatient services, including physiotherapy, podiatry, and mental health support. The hospital is classed as a Tier 1 hospital and accepts ATS CAT 1-5 patients and is part of the Tasmanian Health Service.
Ochre Health is one of Australia’s leading General Practice organisations. Founded in 2002 by Dr Hamish Meldrum and Dr Ross Lamplugh in the NSW outback town of Bourke, Ochre is the only General Practice organisation in all MMM areas, from metro to remote Australia. Ochre now supports over 450 doctors, including 90 registrars.
