The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Rural GP (VMO) to join our team at Ochre Medical Centre Smithton and provide on-call services to the Smithton District Hospital.

You’ll be one of up to 7 GPs sharing the hospital roster, supported by a fantastic nursing team and visiting specialists. The hospital includes:

• 12 acute care beds
• Emergency department
• Midwifery clinic
• X-ray facilities (with training provided if required)

• $2000 site visit grant for eligible applicants through the People Project
• $1,200 per day VMO rate (increasing soon!)
• DPA/MMM5 location – moratorium reduction and access to financial incentives

• Procedural Grants and GPRIP payments apply
• X-ray training provided
• Relocation, car, and accommodation support
• 1:4 to 1:6 VMO roster
• Strong admin and clinical support, with RN-led CDM, immunisations, and women’s health
• Regular visits from allied health and specialist services

You’ll need:

• General or Vocational Registration with AHPRA
• ALS2 / REST or equivalent emergency medicine certificate
• Confidence managing common ED presentations
• Recent experience working in an unsupervised emergency setting
