GP VMO | St Marys, Tasmania | Coastal Proximity & Exceptional Rewards

About the Company

Ochre Health is a national leader in rural medicine, and at Ochre Medical Centre St Marys, we pride ourselves on being small, close-knit, and community-focused. You’ll join a team that includes a local GP, a supportive nursing team, and dedicated admin staff. We value clinical excellence, a sense of humor, and the kind of doctor who wants to be a true part of the community they serve.

Why St Marys?

·      Coastal Access: You are just 10 minutes from Tasmania’s stunning East Coast and its world-famous white sand beaches.

·      Adventure Hub: Close to the epic mountain biking trails of Blue Derby and the coastal charms of St Helens.

·      Nature at Your Door: Surrounded by waterfalls, hiking trails, and the rugged beauty of the Douglas-Apsley National Park.

·      The "Local" Feel: It’s a place with a legendary pub, great coffee, and a community that will know your name (and probably your coffee order) in no time.

·      City Connection: When you need a city fix, Launceston is only 90 minutes away.

The Role Teaser

Looking for a role that’s a little "off the map" but perfectly positioned? St Marys offers a rare blend of traditional general practice and high-impact rural medicine. Based in a supportive Community Health Centre with a co-located Tier 2 hospital, you’ll enjoy a Monday–Friday, 9-to-5 clinic schedule—a true "unicorn" in general practice—balanced with rewarding VMO hospital work.

The Perks: An Industry-Leading Package

·      Exceptional Total Value: A total package value of $670,000 per annum—one of the most competitive in the state.

·      High-Yield Earnings: In-clinic earnings up to $390k, plus a daily VMO on-call rate totaling $200k/year.

·      Sustainable Roster: A balanced 1:2 on-call rotation (7 days VMO followed by 7 days GP-only), with the flexibility to restructure for the right candidate.

·      Housing & Travel: A comprehensive House & Car package (valued at $60k). We provide the house even if you live further out, ensuring a proper night's sleep while on call.

·      Government Incentives: MMM5 & DPA location—eligible for significant moratorium reductions, WIP, Rural Procedural Grants, and various college pathways (RVTS/ACRRM).

·      Site Visit Grant: A $2,000 grant is available for eligible applicants to come and experience the St Marys charm firsthand.

Skills & Experience

·      Registration: General or Specialist Registration with AHPRA.

·      Clinical Readiness: Current ALS2 (or equivalent) and comfort in a rural hospital/ED setting.

·      Spirit: A sharp clinical brain and a love for rural medicine. You’re someone who appreciates a slower pace of life but can roll with the unexpected.

This Is Your Sign

If you’re ready to trade the city grind for jaw-dropping views and a community that truly values your presence, St Marys is waiting. It’s rural medicine at its most rewarding.
