Lead, Supervise & Still Have a Life – GP VMO Supervisor | Tasmania
Shape the next generation of rural doctors – and enjoy the view while you’re at it.
We’re looking for a full-time GP VMO Supervisor to join our team in beautiful Tasmania. This is more than a clinical role — it’s an opportunity to guide, mentor and make a lasting impact on rural medicine, all while maintaining the flexibility and lifestyle that Ochre Health is known for.
Whether you're passionate about medical education, looking for the next step in your leadership journey, or just want to work somewhere with meaning and mountains, this role could be your perfect fit.
The Role
You’ll supervise up to four registrars across RACGP, FSP, and ACRRM pathways, providing clinical guidance and pastoral support as they navigate the rewarding world of rural general practice.
You’ll also:
- Provide GP services at our well-supported medical centre
- Be credentialed (or willing to be) with the Tasmanian Health Service (THS)
- Offer back-up on-call support at the local hospital (because real mentorship includes being there when it counts)
- Have the option to step into the role of Medical Coordinator, if leadership is your thing
What’s On Offer
- A full-time GP VMO role with supervision responsibilities built in
- Additional leadership opportunities for the right candidate
- DPA and MMM location benefits
- Supportive admin, clinical, and educational infrastructure
- A chance to work with a values-driven organisation that was literally founded by GPs
- A real opportunity to shape rural healthcare — both now and into the future
You’ll Need
- Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM
- Current AHPRA registration (Specialist)
- Supervisor status (or eligibility to become a supervisor) across RACGP / FSP / ACRRM
- THS credentialing (or willingness to obtain it)
- ALS2 (or equivalent), plus comfort in rural hospital settings
Why Work With Ochre?
We were founded by GPs, for GPs. We believe in clinical autonomy, flexible work, and making a real difference in communities that need it most. Our network spans metro to remote, but our heart is firmly in rural generalism — and always will be.
