This locum role is a rewarding mix of private practice in the busy and friendly Ochre Health clinic and supporting the VMO contract at the local hospital. Typically you will conduct shared morning ward rounds at the hospital (12 acute beds) and spend the bulk of your day back at the practice in GP consults. On-call for Emergencies is on a shared roster so you are not on-call every day.
Locum amongst a laid back community that’s atmosphere is a perfect mixture of coastal and country. Smithton is an ideal central location for those who want to make the most of their locums and spend a few extra days exploring the natural wonders of Tasmania. Enjoy the iconic Tarkine drive taking you deep inland through a beautiful temperate rainforest and work your way back up the north west coast stopping by the "Edge of the World" reserve. One of the top attractions this time of year is Table Cape's tulip farm, only in bloom for one month each spring!
You must be a vocationally registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM) with recent rural emergency experience and a current ALS2 (or equivalent) certificate.
