The Opportunity

Provide support at this community-controlled primary health network across the Cape York Indigenous Communities, the service delivers care to 11 of the Cape York communities. You'll be delivering care as the solo GP alongside full nursing support with the exception of one community site where there are 2 GPs posted + nursing support. The software used is best practice. Doctors stay onsite in a self-contained room with a shared kitchen and laundry facilities. Before travelling to the community the doctor stocks up with fruit and vegetable in Cairns and take them to the community with you. Doctors do not stay in the communities over the weekend and will travel back to Cairns each Friday. Please note, travel companions are not permitted in these indigenous communities.

Details:

• Best Practice software
• Solo GP with support from nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers
• 20 minute minimum consultations
• Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
• No ED, on call or weekend work required
• Option to stay in Cairns on weekends
• Three weeks minimum

The Location

MM7 location. Communities include: Aurukun, Napranum, Mossman Gorge, Kowanyama, Coen.

Essential criteria

• FACRRM/FRACGP or VR qualifications 
• Unrestricted AHPRA Registration
• Previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and/or communities within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (Desirable).
