The Position:
This health service stands as a beacon of excellence in Indigenous healthcare, having earned multiple accolades for its outstanding contributions. Deeply committed to delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive care, the organisation ensures that Indigenous voices are central in shaping health policies and programs. Operating across 11 communities in Cape York, the clinic utilises Best Practice software and functions with a solo GP, supported by nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers. Consultations are a minimum of 20 minutes, with operating hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. There are no emergency department duties, on-call shifts, or weekend work required. Locums have the option to spend weekends in Cairns, with a minimum commitment of three weeks. Please note travel companions are not allowed in this community.

The Location:
Napranum is a small, remote Indigenous community located in Far North Queensland, near the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. Home to the Ankamuthi people, Napranum offers a unique blend of coastal and bush landscapes, with a strong cultural connection to the land. The community is known for its close-knit atmosphere, where family and traditions play an essential role in daily life. Surrounded by natural beauty, including mangrove forests and the pristine waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria, Napranum provides a peaceful and tranquil environment. MM7 location. This location qualifies for additional financial incentives through the Workforce Incentive Program (WIP). Eligible GPs can receive significant financial support based on the area's classification. Essential Criteria:
- Holds specialist General Practitioner registration with AHPRA
- Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Strong primary care experience in rural or remote settings, ideally in Indigenous health
- Cultural awareness and understanding of the unique challenges facing remote Indigenous communities
