The opportunity

This is a Rural General Practice with 8000 enrolled patients of whom 68% are Maori, therefore we have a focus on achieving equity for Maori Patients. The General Practice has a Clinical Lead, 10 part-time/full-time General Practitioners, 8 Registered Nurses, a HIP, HealthCoach and admin staff. It is well equipped. The Wairoa Rural Hospital and the Practice are based on one site and they work closely together.

You will be an integral part of this friendly team working at least 6 sessions per week plus take part in the shared weeknight on-call roster. They need a GP who can work in the ED or urgent care. ED doctors who want to work some GP sessions are also welcome. On-call and ED rates are negotiable.

The location

Located on the doorstep of the beautiful Te Urewera National Park and Lake Waikaremoana, this location is ideal for the outdoor enthusiast. Being a rural coastal township – its population is diverse and welcoming. It’s the gateway north to sublime fishing or surfing and diving spots, and is also famous for a range of water sports, including water skiing, jet boating and rowing.

Essential criteria
