The opportunity

There is a range of communities within the vast and traditional land known as Arnhem Land that needs General Practitioners to offer their expertise. Each position offers support from nursing and Aboriginal Healthcare Workers, you can expect to have insider knowledge of how best to support the First Nations within your centre. Some locations may be supported by another GP or Registrar, however, you may be a solo GP if required, with emergency backups in place, there is no after-hours or weekend work, leaving you to explore the beauty you are working alongside.

The location

Defined by rocky escarpments, gorges, rivers, and waterfalls this is home to the traditional landowners, the Yolngu people. Arnhem Land is the home of Australia's most famous musical instrument – the didgeridoo and there is a range of 'must-sees' across the region including Macassan Beach, Injalak Arts & Crafts Association, and the Cobourg Peninsula. With areas to hike, camp, explore swimming holes, and more, each location you may work at offers something different, giving you even more reason to return!

Essential criteria

• FACRRM/FRACGP or VR qualifications and unrestricted AHPRA Registration
• Experience in working within an Indigenous health setting is preferred
• Experience with Communicare and participation in cultural sensitivity training or other Indigenous Health GP training modules or CPD activities
• Working with Children - Ochre Card
