The Position:

This opportunity involves working alongside another GP, a passionate nursing team, Aboriginal Health Workers, and reception staff in a well-established clinic known for its comprehensive healthcare approach. The clinic offers a range of services, supported by visiting Allied Health specialists, and is highly regarded within the community, reflected in the patient volumes you will see. The role uses Best Practice software and is supported by other GPs, nurses, and Aboriginal Health Workers. Consultations are a minimum of 20 minutes, with clinic hours from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There are no emergency department duties, on-call shifts, or weekend work required.

Cherbourg is a small, rural town located in Queensland, approximately 250 kilometres north of Brisbane. Known for its strong Aboriginal heritage, Cherbourg is home to the Gooreng Gooreng people and has a deep cultural history. Originally established as a reserve, the town has grown into a vibrant community focused on preserving and promoting Aboriginal culture and traditions. MM5 location. This location qualifies for additional financial incentives through the Workforce Incentive Program (WIP). Eligible GPs can receive significant financial support based on the area's classification. Essential criteria

  • Holds specialist General Practitioner registration with AHPRA
  • Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Strong primary care experience in rural or remote settings, ideally in Indigenous health
  • Cultural awareness and understanding of the unique challenges facing remote Indigenous communities
