The opportunity
We are seeking experienced GPs to provide culturally appropriate primary healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Coober Pedy, a truly unique outback town in South Australia. You’ll be working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, including AMS health workers, nurses, a clinic manager, and reception staff, delivering comprehensive care in a welcoming and community-focused environment.
The clinic offers a mix of booked appointments and walk-ins, with standard 20-minute consultation times. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, with no on-call or weekend requirements. Communicare is the software in use. Prior experience in an AMS setting is preferred but not essential. Locums are required for a minimum of four weeks, with longer blocks available.

Coober Pedy is accessible via flights from Adelaide, with connections available from major cities across Australia.

Essential criteria
- Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM
- Current AHPRA Specialist GP registration
- Eligible for a Medicare provider number with full billing rights
- Experience in rural or remote healthcare, ideally within Aboriginal health
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with Aboriginal communities
