The Opportunity

Take on a rewarding locum role in Mount Isa, where you’ll be based within one of the two clinics dependent on the dates you are available to assist. Whilst one clinic has multi-GP’s working, the other is a sole GP clinic but both have nursing and Australian Health Practitioner support. For the multi-GP clinic appointments are booked, whilst in the sole clinic it works on a walk-in basis.

 

Overall you will be providing assistance to a collaborative Aboriginal Medical Service team dedicated to improving community health outcomes. Across the service, alongside GPs, nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners there are midwives, allied health professionals, visiting specialists and admin staff in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

 

Both clinics operate Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with appointments available between 9am – 4pm. It is Communicare software in use with a minimum of 20 minutes per consultation. There are no on-call, after-hours or weekend requirements, and a minimum commitment of three weeks is preferred. As for local emergency services, there is a hospital in the city.

Essential criteria

·        Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM

·        Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration

·        Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

·        Experience in rural or remote healthcare, ideally Indigenous health

·        Cultural awareness and respect for working within Aboriginal communities

·        Familiarity with Communicare software desirable
