- Nurse and Paramedic support within the clinic
The Opportunity
As the sole GP traveling to this small town community, you will assist in a modern facility with ultrasound and X-ray resources. There will be a minimum of 1 highly competent nurse though at present there are 3 nurses, a student doctor, paramedic and student paramedic.
It is the nurses and a paramedic who are the first points of contact for on-call, whilst you will need to be available to assist if there is a difficult situation. In the instance you are called to the clinic in the night time, the commencement time the next day is adjusted to allow for fatigue management. Serviced by the RFDS, anything needing tertiary medical care is flown to Perth due to the limited hospital services in the region.
All clients are seen on a walk-in basis with appointment duration dependent on what is appropriate for the required care. It is Communicare software in use.
Although there is not the requirement for an ALS or ALS2 certificate, you do need to be comfortable and confident in an Emergency situation.
Paying $2,000 per day plus GST, flights, car and accommodation are provided. The daily rate is also paid across the weekend as you will need to remain available for on-call support in the instance the nurse and paramedic need assistance.
