The opportunity
This is a rewarding locum opportunity in Cherbourg, a well-established Aboriginal Medical Service with a strong reputation for delivering comprehensive care. You’ll work alongside another GP, supported by an experienced team of nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers and reception staff, with additional support from visiting allied health professionals.
The clinic uses Best Practice software, with consultations set at a minimum of 20 minutes. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–5:00pm, and Fridays 8:00am–3:00pm. There are no on-call, after-hours or weekend requirements. You may also be asked to assist at nearby outreach clinics in Wondai and Kingaroy.

Cherbourg is a small Aboriginal community around 250 km north of Brisbane, home to the Gooreng Gooreng people. Rich in Aboriginal heritage and history, the community is focused on preserving culture while providing modern services in health, education and social programs.

How to get there
Fly into Brisbane, with a 3.5-hour drive to Cherbourg. Hire car provided for drive to Cherbourg. Ochre Recruitment organises all travel and accommodation.
Essential criteria
- Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM
- Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Experience in rural or remote healthcare, ideally Indigenous health
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity in Aboriginal health contexts
