The opportunity
Join a supportive primary healthcare team in Katherine, working alongside other GPs, nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and visiting allied health staff. You’ll provide comprehensive care to the community with the support of a full clinical team and the local hospital’s emergency department just 1 km away.
The clinic operates Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with 20-minute appointments and no emergency department duties, on-call shifts or weekend work required. This locum requires a minimum commitment of three weeks.

About the location
Katherine is a lively township around 3.5 hours south of Darwin, known for its tropical climate, waterfalls, and dramatic gorge country. Nearby Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) is a highlight, with opportunities for bushwalking, canoeing, and scenic flights. Natural hot springs, lush wetlands, and rugged escarpments make Katherine an incredible base for exploring the Top End.
How to get there

Essential criteria
- Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM
- Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Strong experience in rural or remote healthcare, ideally Indigenous health
- Cultural awareness and commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal communities
