The opportunity

Take on a rewarding locum placement in Milingimbi, a culturally rich island community in north-east Arnhem Land. You’ll work alongside a supportive team of nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners, delivering primary healthcare across chronic disease, preventative health, and acute presentations.

The clinic operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, with 20-minute consultations designed for quality care. There are no on-call, weekend, or after-hours requirements.

About the location

Milingimbi is one of the Crocodile Islands, located in north-east Arnhem Land and home to around 1,200 people. The community has a strong Yolŋu identity and is known for its vibrant art, traditional weaving, and connection to the sea.

Life here offers the opportunity to experience an island community with deep cultural traditions, surrounded by beautiful beaches, mangroves, and rich marine life.

How to get there

Fly into Darwin and connect with a regional flight to Milingimbi Airport, located a short distance from the community. All travel and transfers are arranged by Ochre Recruitment for a smooth journey.

Essential criteria

  • Specialist GP registration with AHPRA
  • Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Primary care experience in rural/remote settings, ideally Indigenous health
  • Cultural awareness and respect for working within Aboriginal communities
