The opportunity
This is an exciting locum opportunity in Mossman Gorge, located at the edge of the Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland. You’ll work alongside another GP, supported by a team of nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners, providing high-quality, culturally appropriate primary healthcare.
The clinic uses Best Practice software, with consultations set at a minimum of 20 minutes. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with no after-hours, on-call, or weekend work required. A minimum three-week commitment is required. Accommodation is provided in a modern one-bedroom apartment in nearby Port Douglas, giving you the perfect balance of rewarding work and coastal lifestyle.

About the location
Mossman Gorge is part of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, one of the oldest rainforests on Earth. It is home to the Kuku Yalanji people, whose cultural heritage and deep connection to country enrich the region.
On your weekends, explore crystal-clear streams, rainforest walking trails, and pristine swimming spots, or unwind in nearby Port Douglas, known for its beaches, dining and access to the Great Barrier Reef.
How to get there
Fly into Cairns, then travel by road (approx. 1.5 hours) north to Mossman or Port Douglas. Ochre Recruitment arranges all flights, ground transfers, and accommodation.
Essential criteria
- Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM
- Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Experience in rural or remote healthcare, ideally Indigenous health
- Cultural awareness and respect for Aboriginal communities
