The Opportunity

An Urgent Care Centre has opened to help further support the community, with locum cover required from the December 2023 onwards. You may be working as the solo GP, though they hope to have a second GP rostered across all weekdays, along with 2 nurses plus the nurse manager who will all be local to and familiar with Alice Springs. Best Practice software will be in use and around 4 patients will be seen per hour.

Opening hours across the weekdays are from 12 pm – 8 pm and across the weekends from 12pm - 4pm, with no on-call. When busy the nurse will triage the patients and it will be walk-ins only, servicing the whole community. Emergency qualifications are not required but prior experience is desirable as it is expected Cat 3&4 patients will be seen, with Alice Spring Hospital and the full Emergency Department only a 3 minute drive away. In the department will be an X-ray machine and Ultra sound you may be required to use.

$250 is paid hourly across the week days and $375per hour across the weekends. Accommodation, flights and car are then provided. Current dates include: 29 Jan – 9 Feb & 25 Mar – 28 Mar.

Essential Criteria

To be eligible for this role you must have unrestricted specialist AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner and full working rights. Prior experience in the urgent care or ED setting is desirable.
