The opportunity

Ngati Ruanui Tahua Limited operate two General Practice Healthcare Centres, Hawera and Patea. They are an integrated health and community service provider, offering multi-doctor General Practices and professional health service to the wider South Taranaki community. They have a broad range of family medical and specialist services along with outreach clinic services.

They are currently seeking a General Practitioner to join their Healthcare Centre team, reporting to the Practice Manager. This role will be based at their Healthcare premise on Lincoln Street in Patea and will also work across the Healthcare Centre in Hawera. 

In this role you will provide personal, family, whanau and community orientated comprehensive primary care medical services. As part of the General Practice team, you will be responsible for providing patient centred, culturally safe and appropriate holistic care, and a high standard of clinical service to patients and whanau. 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

• Restoring health and wellbeing of patients and whanau by providing care when needed, recommending and/or undertaking treatment options, such as minor surgery, general practice procedures, prescribing, advising and medical education.
• Maintaining patient and whanau health and wellbeing by providing clinical and culturally appropriate health services, recommending screening and relevant public health services.
• Developing and maintaining working relationships and connections with community health services, public health providers and non-health agencies to enable the effective support of patient and whanau needs.
• Supported by a competent Nursing team, promote health and wellbeing education and support services.
• Fostering strong relationships with the internal clinic team, engaging in team meetings and information sharing to ensure effective communication is maintained
