The Opportunity

Open Monday to Friday, the medical centre provides GP services and 24/7 Emergency Department. The newly built hospital has 2 ED & 15 acute beds, residential aged care as well as palliative and renal facilities. With a large Aboriginal population (Approx. 37%) our doctors serve an essential role in closing the gap with Aboriginal Health Services. As part of the shared roster you will provide GP consults, share ward rounds and on-call service for the ED. You will also be aided by a team of allied health professionals, pathology and radiology services as well as a number of visiting specialists including psychiatry, endoscopy, ophthalmology and dermatology.

Uncover a different way of life in Bourke, the old school country hospitality is enough to immediately make you feel at home, where residents are resourceful and welcoming to their visitors. Spend some time discovering the history of Bourke on nearby cultural walks, local museums and galleries. You can even get up close to some ancient aboriginal rock art in the Gundabooka National Park or spend an evening watching the sun go down over 100 kilometres expanse of land from the top of Mount Oxley. 

 

Essential Criteria

You must be a vocationally registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM) with recent rural emergency experience and a current ALS2 (or equivalent) certificate.
