Lead, Supervise & Still Have a Life – GP VMO Supervisor | Tasmania

Shape the next generation of rural doctors – and enjoy the view while you’re at it.

We’re looking for a full-time GP VMO Supervisor to join our team in beautiful Tasmania. This is more than a clinical role — it’s an opportunity to guide, mentor and make a lasting impact on rural medicine, all while maintaining the flexibility and lifestyle that Ochre Health is known for.

Whether you're passionate about medical education, looking for the next step in your leadership journey, or just want to work somewhere with meaning and mountains, this role could be your perfect fit.

The Role:

You’ll supervise up to four registrars across RACGP and ACRRM pathways, providing clinical guidance and pastoral support as they navigate the rewarding world of rural general practice.

You’ll also:

  • Provide GP services at our well-supported medical centre
  • Be credentialed (or willing to be) with the Tasmanian Health Service (THS)
  • Offer back-up on-call support at the local hospital (because real mentorship includes being there when it counts)
  • Have the option to step into the role of Medical Coordinator, if leadership is your thing

What’s On Offer:

  • Competitive remuneration packages for the right candidate!
  • Minimum $2000 per day guarantee.
  • $2000 site visit grant through the People Project.
  • $10,000 relocation incentive through the People Project.
  • Protected teaching time at $200 per hour.
  • Rural incentives, college payments.
  • House and car package worth $60,000.
  • A full-time GP VMO role with built-in supervision responsibilities.
  • Additional leadership opportunities for the right candidate.
  • DPA and MMM location benefits.
  • Supportive administrative, clinical, and educational infrastructure.
  • A chance to work with a values-driven organisation founded by GPs, for GPs.
  • The opportunity to shape the future of rural healthcare — now and into the future.

You’ll Need:

  • Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM
  • Current AHPRA registration (Specialist)
  • Supervisor status (or eligibility to become a supervisor) across RACGP / FSP / ACRRM
  • THS credentialing (or willingness to obtain it)
  • ALS2 (or equivalent), plus comfort in rural hospital settings

Why Work With Ochre?
