The Placement

Scottsdale is the hub of Tasmania’s fertile North East — an easy hour from Launceston Airport, with some of the state’s best produce, coastline, and trail riding on your doorstep. A genuine community with a reputation for looking after the people who come to work here.

Ochre Medical Centre Scottsdale is a purpose-built, fully accredited GP practice with 5 consulting rooms and on-site pathology. The practice delivers comprehensive general practice services including chronic disease management, health assessments, and preventive care, supported by visiting physiotherapy and a team that participates in the John Flynn Rural Training Program.

Across the road, the North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital provides 18 acute care beds, outpatient and emergency services, palliative care, low-risk midwifery and antenatal services, physiotherapy, radiology, social work and community nursing. As the GPVMO, you’ll cover ED shifts here. GP Clinic days run 0800–1700 — when you’re on-call at the hospital, you’re not rostered at the clinic.

The Essentials

• Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM
• Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration
• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Current ALS2 (or equivalent)
• Recent emergency experience within the last 18 months
