The Opportunity

ASAP - 6 month locum placement with possibility of a substantive position.

We are open to flexible working and job share arrangements. The role has a full clinical load with managerial duties.

In this role, you'll oversee the management and governance of locums and General Practitioners, including GP Anaesthetists and GP Obstetricians.

Your responsibilities extend to providing professional support, development, and mentorship to our clinical staff, nurturing their growth, and ensuring top-notch patient care.

Additionally, as a Senior Medical Practitioner, you'll be at the forefront of emergency medical care, working alongside dedicated colleagues to provide round-the-clock assistance to those in need. You’ll be required to work rostered shifts, including nights and weekends, where you'll collaborate closely with GPs offering ED, obstetric, and anaesthetic services.

You'll also play a crucial role in mentoring and educating the next generation of medical professionals, imparting your knowledge to students from the Rural Medical School during their shifts in the ED.

About Esperance Hospital:

Esperance Health Campus is the major Integrated District Health Services for Esperance and surrounding south-east coast region. The hospital houses 12 treatment areas in ED, two state-of-the art resus bays, acute mental health assessment room, isolation room, two private consulting rooms and a procedure room. It has two operating theatres, a new operating theatre, a day surgery unit, a new obstetrics wing with two labour delivery rooms, single private rooms, and a specialised nursery.

Esperance, situated on the southeast coast of Western Australia approximately 725 kilometers from Perth by road, spans an expansive 42,000 square kilometers. Its vast region extends from Munglinup to Israelite Bay and north to the Shire of Dundas. Despite its considerable size, Esperance is home to just under 15,000 people, resulting in one of the lowest population densities in the region.
