Latest additions to the Ochre Family
As we move full steam ahead into the new year, the team at Ochre are delighted to announce a group of three general practices joined Ochre Health just before Christmas.
Tuggeranong Square Medical Practice, Lonsdale Street Medical Practice and Lakeview Medical Practice have been rebranded Ochre Medical Centre Tuggeranong Square, Ochre Medical Centre Braddon, and Ochre Medical Centre Lakeview respectively. We welcome all doctors, nurses and support staff. Their focus on quality care and providing strong support to their community aligns very well with The Ochre Way.
The group has a long and proud history, having been founded as a stand-alone practice in the Canberra suburb of Kambah in the 1970s. When Tuggeranong Square was developed in the late 1980s, the practice moved in and changed its name to Tuggeranong Square Medical Practice. Initially a bulk billing clinic open until 9pm, it made a gradual transition to private billing in the 1990s.
Over time, it has developed a strong reputation for providing quality family care and supporting the local community, with excellent nurse coverage and opening every day of the year except Good Friday and Christmas Day. It has also provided services not readily available elsewhere, like yellow fever vaccinations, and even been nominated by the Department of Defence as the preferred clinic to care for Defence personnel when their own doctors are closed.
With success and growth has come expansion, firstly with the launch of the Lonsdale Street practice five years ago and then with the Lakeview practice a couple of years later. Lakeview has also recently operated a busy COVID Respiratory Clinic and all three practices have been early providers of COVID vaccinations.
