As a Junior ED, Registrar, CMO or FACEM locum doctor you can combine your career with adventure.

And at Ochre, we believe that Tasmania has to be one of the most exciting examples of a thriving Australian regional centre where you can achieve an enviable balance of work, lifestyle and adventure.

Why Tassie?

1.      Tasmania’s natural beauty is beyond compare with its dramatic landscapes, ancient rainforests, pristine beaches and rugged mountains. Places like Cradle Mountain, Freycinet National Park and the Bay of Fires are just a few highlights. Immersing yourself in natural landscapes feels incredibly grounding and refreshing. The vastness of the open spaces, the serenity of flowing water, and the quiet rustling of leaves create a sense of calm and clarity away from the hectic pace of the Emergency Department.

2.      Time has a way of slowing down in Tassie, allowing you to connect with the present. You can feel both small and expansive at the same time. It’s rejuvenating and allows for a different perspective from the rigours of the big smoke.

3.      Being such a compact island state, it’s easy to explore and go beyond the city up into the mountains or along the coastal roads. You don’t need to drive hundreds of kilometres from one town to another – the distance between towns is much shorter when compared to distances between rural towns in QLD, WA & NSW.

4.      It’s also fair to say that there’s more than just a service station and pub in the more remote towns. From colourful waterfront villages to secluded islands and serene national parks and lakes, Tasmania really does offer lifestyle benefits from the north to the south that other states can’t quite match.

5.      The temperate climate and four distinct seasons - including brilliant hot summers without the oppressive conditions and cool winters - the region has perfect winegrowing conditions and this is reflected in the excellent wines produced all around Tasmania, with plenty of boutique vineyards you can spend time wine tasting.

6.      Easy access to Melbourne and Sydney with short, regular, daily flights. There's also the option to experience the Spirit of Tasmania and sail across the Tasman from Victoria.
