The Placement

Brewarrina — or ‘Bre’ as it’s known locally — sits on the Barwon-Darling River in far north-western NSW, about 800km from Sydney. It’s a historic and fascinating town, home to the Brewarrina Fish Traps, one of the oldest human-made structures in the world. Around 68% of the local population identify as Aboriginal, making this one of the most culturally significant communities in rural Australia.

Ochre Medical Centre Brewarrina is a mixed-billing general practice operating Monday to Friday. The practice is co-located with Brewarrina Multipurpose Service, which provides emergency department care, acute inpatient services and community health services. Ochre is contracted by the Western NSW Local Health District to provide locum doctors to the hospital. This is a solo VMO role.

Shift patterns and hours vary by location and are confirmed ahead of your block.

The Essentials

•       Fellowship with RACGP and/or ACRRM

•       Current AHPRA Specialist GP Registration

•       Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

•       Current ALS2 (or equivalent)

•       Recent emergency experience within the last 18 months
